AIOU CMS Student Service Request: Fix Name, Address, Course and Fee Issues
AIOU CMS Student Service Request: Fix Name, Address, Course and Fee Issues
If your name is spelled wrong on your AIOU record, your address is old, or you picked the wrong course, you do not need to travel to Islamabad to fix it. AIOU now handles most of these fixes online through the CMS Student Service Request option. Many students never use it because they do not know it exists, or they do not know which request type to pick. This guide explains the option in simple words, what you can fix with it, and how to follow your request until it is done.
Use this guide as general help. Your own CMS record and the guidelines shown in CMS are the final source for your case. If a fix needs a fee, pay only through the challan CMS gives you. Never pay a stranger who promises a fast fix. For admission and record checks, you may also need our guide on how to confirm your AIOU admission status online. Keep your registration number and CNIC ready before you start.

AIOU CMS Student Service Request Explained
A Student Service Request is an online application you file inside CMS. It goes to the right AIOU department for action. In the past, many of these fixes needed a paper form sent by post, or a visit to a regional office. The online request replaces much of that work. You pick a category, write your case in plain words, attach proof where needed, and submit. The system gives you a request number. You can then check the same thread for the reply.
The AIOU CMS student guide puts it in simple terms. AIOU now only entertains online applications for these fixes. For any correction in personal information data, change of course, change of address, course addition, financial assistance and even refund of fee, students are required to submit an online Student Service Request. That is why learning this one option saves you many trips and many weeks of waiting.
What You Can Fix With a Service Request
The main categories, as listed on the AIOU support pages, are four. First, apply for financial aid or scholarship. Second, refund of fee. Third, other fee challan or invoice requests. Fourth, correction in personal information. Each category opens further options, so read the full list on your own screen before you pick one.
Personal information correction covers the details that follow you through your whole degree. Name, father name, date of birth, address, phone number, and registration or roll number errors can be reported here. These details must match your CNIC and your school records. A small spelling error may look harmless, but it can block your degree later. Fix it as soon as you spot it. Attach a clear scan of the proof AIOU asks for, such as your CNIC or school certificate. A blurry photo can delay the fix by weeks.
File an AIOU CMS Student Service Request
Step 1: Log in to CMS with your registration number and password. Open the Student Service Request tile. Read the guidelines on the home screen of that option first. The guidelines tell you which proof to attach for each type of fix. Ten minutes of reading can save you a rejected request.
Step 2: Pick the right main category. Financial aid, refund of fee, other fee challan, or correction in personal information. If your fix is a fee challan type, open the sub list and pick the exact item, such as change of examination centre or re-checking of answer scripts. A wrong category sends your request to the wrong desk and wastes weeks.
Step 3: Write your case in short, clear lines. Give your registration number, program, and the exact detail that is wrong. Then give the correct detail. Then name the proof you attached. Example: My father name is spelled Ahmad on CMS and Ahmed on my CNIC. The correct spelling is Ahmed. I have attached my CNIC copy. Do not write a long story. Staff need facts, not feelings.
Step 4: If a challan is generated, download and print it, and pay it at ABL. Keep the paid challan safe. Check the request thread after a few days for a reply. If the reply asks for more proof, add it in the same thread. Do not file a second request for the same fix. Two requests for one fix can confuse the record and slow both down.
How to Write a Request That Gets Action
Write like a clerk, not like a chat message. Start with your full name and registration number. State the problem in one line. State the correct fact in the next line. List the proof you attached. End with a polite request for correction and your phone number. Keep the whole text under ten lines if you can. Long requests with no clear facts are often sent back for more detail. Check your spelling of names and numbers twice before you submit. If you type the wrong registration number, staff may look up the wrong record. Read the request once more on the review screen.
Common Fixes, One by One
Wrong name or father name: File a correction in personal information. Attach your CNIC and, if asked, your school certificate. The name on your AIOU record should match your CNIC. If your CNIC itself has the error, fix the CNIC first at NADRA, then file the AIOU request with the new CNIC. Wrong date of birth: File the same correction type. Attach your CNIC and school certificate. Date of birth errors can block degree and verification work, so do not leave them for the last semester.
Fee, Challan and Payment Cautions
Some service requests need no fee. Some need a fee challan. CMS will show you which one applies. If a challan is shown, download it from CMS only. Do not use a challan from a friend or an old semester. Pay it at ABL, as the support pages state, and keep the paid copy. Check that the challan number, your name and the amount match your request before you pay.
For fee payment in general, students can also use the online channels covered in our guide on how to pay AIOU fee online. That guide covers challan, Easypaisa, JazzCash and bank routes. For a service request challan, follow the payment route shown on that challan itself. If the challan says ABL, pay at ABL. Do not send money to a personal account or a mobile number given by a stranger. Never share your CMS password, CNIC scan, or challan copy in a public group. Share proof only inside CMS or at the official office.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a service request take?
It depends on the fix and the proof. Simple address changes can be fast. Name, course and refund cases need more checks and take longer. Check the thread every few days. If weeks pass with no reply, visit your regional office with your request number and proof.
What if I pick the wrong category?
Do not file a second request at once. Check the thread for a reply. If staff ask you to refile, file again in the right category and note the old request number. If CMS lets you edit or withdraw, use that option first.
Can a service request fix my assignment marks?
Not directly. Missing assignment marks are a tutor and CMS marks issue. Check our guide on how to check AIOU assignment marks on the CMS portal first. Use a service request only if staff tell you to, or if the fix needs a fee challan such as re-checking.
What proof do I need for a name correction?
Your CNIC is the main proof. A school certificate may also be asked for. Attach clear scans of both if you have them. Make sure the spelling you ask for matches the proof exactly, letter by letter.
Your AIOU record will follow you from admission to degree. A small error today can become a big block later, at degree or verification time. Check your record now in CMS, fix what is wrong through a Student Service Request, keep your request number and challan safe, and follow the thread until the fix is done. That one careful habit will save you time, money and stress through your whole degree.
